The opportunity – Te tūranga
As Graphic Designer in our newsroom, you will be designing creative multi-platform graphics across TVNZ’s brands, primarily servicing the graphics requirements for the 1News, Te Karere and news on TVNZ+ teams. A part of the role will be designing imagery for tiles and thumbnails on the 1News website and news content TVNZ+. You’ll contribute to the creative environment and support the wider graphics team with concepts and visual ideation.
Your focus will be on
• Produce excellent graphics designs across a range of news productions and both digital and broadcast platforms
• Ensure deigns adhere to brand and production guidelines.
• Deliver outputs to deadline, ensuring stakeholder feedback has been captured and address within those timeframes.
There may be an occasional requirement to do a shift in the weekend or on a public holiday. This is a fixed term contract 12-15 months.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for the following:
• Minimum 2 years graphics experience.
• Excellent design and composition skills.
• Ability to work within brand design guidelines and templates.
• Able to communicate creative thoughts and ideas to others.
• Self-starter, pro-active, passionate to work across design projects of all sizes.
• Photography skills and an eye for good image composition.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Can work flexibly across multiple different tasks in a day.
• Able to take feedback and deliver to stakeholder briefs.
• Ability to anticipate design challenges in a brief and quickly solution them.
• Forward thinking and innovative, aware of industry developments.
• Skilled in Adobe Creative apps – in particular, After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop.
