About the role

SCG is looking for a talented Senior Designer and Team Leader.  You will provide design leadership to SCG’s internal and external client based teams for the creation of world-class content across digital, print and other physical mediums.

  • Develop engaging design and communications outputs across many traditional and digital channels.
  • To work cooperatively within the Creative department, liaising with internal SCG staff to produce high-quality projects that meet the Company’s prescribed quality standards, client requirements and timeframes.
  • Support the relevant community across the magazine, website, events, social, video and content marketing – ensuring each project meets deadlines and budgets by keeping to production workflow methods and following Company systems and relevant Style Guide, seeing each project from conception through to completion
  • Provide art direction and design services on other brands within the SCG stable, including content marketing as required; Translate marketing objectives into creative strategies
  • Responsible for the trafficking of workflow in and out of the team, ensuring even distribution across team members.
  • Manage work through the online traffic system and ensure correct utilisation of Netsuite and workflow systems.
  • Distributes daily workflow updates to teams as required and ensures teams have work ready to review/present by required deadlines

About you

We are looking for a keen candidate with the following skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years industry experience in a design related role in a publishing company, design agency, or similar position
  • Team leadership and mentoring experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working on leading magazine publications and with software – proficient to expert in: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Office
  • Proven ability to conceptualise and layout, or redevelop magazine designs from brief to completion, possessing a deep understanding in related creative tracks: design, interactive development, copywriting and content strategy
  • Demonstrate a combined passion for aesthetics with a commitment to the Company’s bottom line
  • Be able to effectively communicate with staff and clients at all levels, be it written or verbal
  • Great attention to detail, and timeliness with tasks; ability to self-manage with strong problem-solving skills
  • Be able to multi-task and be client (both internal and external) service focused
